Why Velourbunni Candles Are Premium Priced

At Velourbunni, each candle is meticulously handcrafted from start to finish. I use the traditional double boiler method, ensuring every step of the process is carefully monitored to maintain the precise temperatures necessary for achieving the highest quality burn and fragrance. Crafting each small batch takes hours, as my focus is not on mass production, but on creating products that stand out for their exceptional quality.

The curing process, essential for achieving the perfect finish, takes time and patience to ensure the optimal fragrance throw and burn quality. This step is integral to the final product, requiring several days to fully set and reach its ideal state. The raw ingredients I use are carefully chosen for their purity and sustainability, from premium beeswax to organic coconut oil. While these ingredients come at a cost, there are no shortcuts when it comes to creating a product that is beneficial for both our wellbeing and the planet. Velourbunni is dedicated to offering not just a candle, but an experience that embodies luxury, craftsmanship, and responsibility.

Burn Time

Please note that burn times may vary depending on individual burning habits and environmental conditions. However, with proper care, my candles can provide up to 19 hours of enchanting fragrance and ambiance.

How to Adjust a Weak or Strong Flame

While enjoying your Velourbunni candle, always remember to never touch the candle directly when it’s burning, especially the glass near the flame, as it can get very hot. If you notice the flame becoming too large or the wick burning too hot, extinguish the candle, allow it to cool, and then trim the wick to about 2-3mm. This will help prevent a flickering flame and ensure a cleaner burn.

If the wick appears too short or the flame is weak within a few minutes of lighting, extinguish the flame and allow the candle to cool slightly. Gently adjust the melted wax by carefully moving it away from the wick. Hold the bottom of the jar (which remains cool to the touch) and lightly shift the wax to expose more of the wick, encouraging a stronger flame. Alternatively, you can use a paper towel or napkin to soak up any excess wax, ensuring a clean and steady burn.

Soot or Smoke

For an optimal burn, your wick should never produce soot or smoke. If you notice either, it’s usually a sign that the wick requires a gentle trim or that charred wax is impeding the flame. Regular maintenance ensures a clean, steady burn and a longer-lasting candle.

To remove charred wax, allow the candle to fully cool and solidify. Gently trim the wick to approximately 2-3mm to prevent excessive burning and maintain a clean flame. Using a soft cloth, paper towel, or cotton swab, gently wipe away any charred wax. For wax that’s more stubborn, a spoon can help you carefully scrape away any burnt residue.

The Appearance of Hyperpigmented Wax After Lighting

Should you notice your candle wax becoming more pigmented after lighting, this may indicate that the wax is burning at a higher temperature. Pure, high-quality beeswax, when exposed to prolonged heat, naturally darkens over time. While this is a characteristic of the wax, it can also suggest the candle is burning a bit too hot.

To ensure a smoother, more consistent burn, I recommend trimming the wick to approximately 3mm before each use, as this helps regulate the flame and prevent excess heat.

Rest assured, this subtle change in color does not affect the candle’s fragrance or quality. It’s simply a natural response of the beeswax as it melts.

Cracks After Burning and Cooling

After a candle has been lit and cooled, you may notice some small or even larger cracks on the surface of the wax. These are a completely natural occurrence (especially with my natural wax blend of pure beeswax and organic coconut oil) and do not impact the burn or overall quality of the candle.

These cracks may even add a touch of rustic elegance to the candle’s character, blending seamlessly with my sustainability values. Whether small or larger, they are simply part of the natural cooling process. Rest assured, your candle will still provide the same beautiful, consistent burn, with the same luxurious scent and ambiance.
